FromSoftware May Have a Secret Pirate Game in Development

Over the past few days a series of leaks have surfaced suggesting the studio behind Elden Ring and Dark Souls may have an unannounced pirate themed action RPG in development, and the details keep contradicting each other with every new post.

It started with a leak pointing to an unannounced FromSoftware project codenamed FMC, now allegedly titled Cerulean Onslaught, described as an open world adventure featuring pirates on the high seas with a reveal supposedly coming at this year’s Summer Game Fest.

Then a second wave of leaks appeared that flipped almost everything. The newer posts, compiled by Reddit user The-Noob-Smoke on r/GamingLeaksAndRumours, describe a game with the word “Vessel” in its title where the entire game takes place inside a single island-sized shipwreck that has crashed and merged with a landmass. The player character is reportedly referred to as Drowned. That detail at least sounds like classic FromSoftware naming conventions.

The newer leaks also completely reject the open world sailing angle, describing no ship-based exploration at all, which directly contradicts the earlier version of events. The community is now split between those who think one of these leaks is real, those who think both are fake, and those who just want it to be true regardless.

One of the bigger red flags is the claim that the game would launch in August 2026, just two months after its supposed Summer Game Fest reveal. FromSoftware released Elden Ring years after its announcement. A two month turnaround for a new IP would be almost unheard of.

To make things even more crowded, the leaks also mention that Hidetaka Miyazaki is separately developing an action fantasy game featuring organic biological mechs as his personal dream project.

Take all of this with a very large amount of skepticism. None of it is confirmed and 4chan leaks have a long history of being either completely accurate or completely made up with no way to tell which until an official announcement arrives. Summer Game Fest is about a month away, so the wait for answers should not be too long.
