A standalone Venom game from Insomniac Games still hasn’t been officially revealed, but reports, leaks, and recent comments from people connected to the studio continue to suggest the project may still be in development behind the scenes.
Following the massive 2023 Insomniac leaks, references to a Venom focused game quickly caught the attention of Marvel fans. While Sony and Insomniac never publicly confirmed the project, the idea immediately made sense after the events of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, which heavily expanded the symbiote storyline and introduced one of the most aggressive versions of Venom seen in a Spider Man game.
Recent comments from Miles Morales actor Nadji Jeter reignited speculation after he claimed Insomniac had plans for a full Venom game. Although Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier disputed claims that the project had been canceled, many fans now believe the game could still be actively in development.
If the rumored title becomes reality, it could easily become Insomniac’s darkest Marvel game yet. Unlike Peter Parker or Miles Morales, Venom is built around raw brutality and overwhelming power. Combat would likely focus less on fast acrobatic dodging and more on destruction, aggression, and heavy attacks.
Players could potentially use symbiote tendrils to slam enemies into walls, throw vehicles, tear apart environments, and chain together brutal finishers. Spider Man 2 already showed glimpses of this style with Peter’s symbiote abilities, but a full Venom game could push those mechanics much further with larger attacks, shape shifting weapons, and massive area damage.
Traversal could also feel completely different from Spider Man. Instead of graceful swinging, Venom may use giant leaps, wall crawling, tendril grappling, or even short bursts of high speed movement across buildings. Fans have also speculated that the game could feature a darker, more dangerous version of New York filled with symbiote infected enemies and creatures.
One of the biggest questions is who players would actually control. Many believe the game could follow Eddie Brock, while others think Insomniac may continue the story of Harry Osborn after Spider Man 2. Either way, the story would likely focus heavily on the bond between host and symbiote, forcing players to balance power with the constant threat of losing control.
Boss fights could also become far more monstrous compared to previous Spider Man games. Fans are hoping for battles against symbiote creatures, infected villains, Carnage, or even full scale encounters where Venom fights entire military forces or destroys sections of the city.
Although almost nothing has been officially confirmed, the demand for the project is clearly there. Between the Insomniac leaks, Spider Man 2’s setup, and growing discussion online, many players believe a Venom spin off is only a matter of time.
If Insomniac delivers on the concept, the game could end up feeling like a mix of Spider Man’s traversal, Prototype’s destruction, and a darker Marvel story centered around one of the franchise’s most iconic anti heroes.
