What started as a simple mod project for Starfield has turned into one of the biggest Star Wars gaming overhauls ever made. The fan project, known as Star Wars Genesis, completely transforms the game into a full Star Wars universe filled with lightsabers, Force powers, Imperial storylines, new planets, blasters, bosses, ships, and entire rewritten questlines.
The mod replaces huge parts of Starfield’s world with iconic Star Wars locations including Coruscant, Nar Shaddaa, Mustafar, Hoth, Geonosis, Tython, and more. Players can explore Clone Wars battlefields, ancient Jedi ruins, lava filled wastelands, Imperial cities, and fully custom settlements inspired by the movies and shows. Some planets even feature custom biomes and entirely new environmental effects.
One of the biggest additions is the Force system. Players can become Force sensitive through the story or special character backgrounds like Jedi Purge Survivor or Inquisitorium Survivor. Once unlocked, you gain Force Reflexes which slows time around you, along with abilities like mind control and blaster deflection. Jedi robes even boost Force regeneration and reserve stats, making builds feel closer to an actual Star Wars RPG.
Lightsabers are now fully implemented with multiple unique sabers, customizable kyber crystal colors, deflection mechanics, and dedicated combat perks. The mod also adds melee counters, parries, and first person saber combat to make duels feel faster and more aggressive. Boss encounters can reward rare sabers, armor, and powerful Force abilities after defeating elite enemies and temple guardians.
Combat is packed with Star Wars enemies and factions including Imperial troops, rebels, Sith acolytes, Rakghoul infected enemies, mercenaries, and large scale boss fights. Some questlines have even been completely rewritten into Imperial Agent stories involving characters like Grand Admiral Thrawn and Grand Moff Tarkin. The mod also introduces major choices that affect future questlines and faction outcomes.
The ship content is equally massive. Players can pilot new Star Wars inspired ships including the Firespray gunship, customize hyperdrives and shields, and engage in faster paced space combat. Star Wars themed props, UI changes, loading screens, music, armor sets, and blasters help make the entire game barely resemble vanilla Starfield anymore.
Part of what makes the mod so popular is that it doesn’t just add Star Wars skins over Starfield. The developers are actively trying to improve Starfield’s gameplay itself by reducing repetitive exploration, improving combat pacing, adding new loot systems, increasing faction variety, and making planets actually worth exploring. Many players are calling it the Star Wars RPG they wanted from the beginning.
